Mohamed Salah has admitted that Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday might have been his final showdown against Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield.
With the Egyptian star approaching the final six months of his contract, uncertainty looms over his future.
Mohamed Salah recently voiced his frustration over the lack of a contract extension, revealing he feels “more out than in” at the club—a statement that drew criticism, including being labeled “selfish” by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
After converting a crucial penalty in Sunday’s win, Mohamed Salah shared his emotions with Sky Sports.
“It’s very special,” Salah said. “I don’t take it for granted. I’m enjoying every minute here—it feels like home. Scoring at Anfield and winning games is always a special feeling.”
When asked about the possibility of it being his last match against City at Anfield, Mohamed Salah admitted:
“Honestly, it’s in my head. As of now, this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool, so I just wanted to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible, and I cherished every second here. Hopefully, we win the league, and we’ll see what happens.”
While manager Arne Slot has praised Mohamed Salah’s professionalism amid contract negotiations, concerns among fans are mounting. As the calendar year draws to a close, Salah will soon be eligible to engage in discussions with overseas clubs regarding a potential free transfer.
The looming uncertainty has left the Anfield faithful hoping for a resolution that will keep their talisman at the club for years to come.
