Pakistan Storms Into U19 Asia Cup Semi Finals

Pakistan delivered a dominant performance to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Men’s Under-19 (U19) Asia Cup, defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 69 runs.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan posted an imposing total of 314/3 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was anchored by another scintillating century from Shahzaib Khan, as he built a crucial 183-run partnership with Muhammad Riazullah for the second wicket.

Riazullah was equally impressive, smashing 106 runs off just 91 balls, as he capitalized on the platform set by the openers.

Chasing a daunting target of 315, UAE lost wickets at regular intervals, struggling to build partnerships against a disciplined Pakistani bowling attack.

Ethan D’Souza was the standout performer for UAE, scoring a valiant 84 off 102 balls, including 11 boundaries. He held the innings together and found some support from Muhammad Rayan, who contributed a well-made 50 off 66 balls. The duo added 113 runs for the fourth wicket, giving UAE a glimmer of hope in the middle overs.

However, once D’Souza was dismissed in the 41st over, caught behind off Abdul Subhan, UAE’s chase faltered. Subhan was the star with the ball for Pakistan, claiming a remarkable six-wicket haul for 57 runs in his 10 overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers complemented their batters’ efforts with a disciplined performance. Abdul Subhan’s six-wicket haul was the highlight, but Mohammad Ahmed also impressed, taking 2 wickets for 45 runs in his 10 overs. Ali Raza and Naveed Ahmed Khan bowled economically, while Faham-ul-Haq and Haroon Arshad kept the pressure on the UAE batters.

Subhan’s ability to strike at crucial moments ensured that the UAE never gained the momentum needed to chase down the target. With this victory, Pakistan has booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Men’s U19 Asia Cup.
