NHMP Collects Billions in Fines Breaking Previous Records in 2024

The National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) has demonstrated exceptional performance in 2024, issuing 13.3 million tickets and collecting Rs. 15.4 billion in fines from January to November.

With 9,098 officers serving from a total of 15,607 sanctioned positions, NHMP manages 4,736 kilometers of critical routes, including M-1, M-2, and M-5. Established in 1997, the department enforces the National Highway Safety Ordinance (NHSO) 2000, focusing on traffic regulation, commuter assistance, and axle load control.

The Axle Load Control Regime alone has significantly contributed to revenue growth, with fines increasing by 133 percent to Rs. 4.26 billion. Over 1.6 million commuters also received assistance from NHMP officers during this period, showcasing their commitment to public service.

NHMP has embraced modernization through e-ticketing and cashless systems, making its operations more efficient. Since 2014, the Drivers Licensing Authority (DLA) has issued over 144,000 licenses, adhering to global standards.
