Karachi to Get 2 Art Universities

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, has announced promising initiatives for students in Karachi, as reported by ARY News.

The Minister revealed that two new universities are set to be launched in Karachi this December. The National Textile University campus will be inaugurated on December 14, and the National Skills University campus will also open within the same month.

In addition, Dr. Siddiqui shared plans to establish a campus of a federal university in the Mirpurkhas district by March next year. This campus aims to benefit students from the Sanghar, Umerkot, and Tharparkar districts. However, he expressed concerns about challenges in acquiring land for these projects, pointing out that some plots have remained unused for over a decade. Discussions with federal authorities are underway to resolve these land acquisition issues.

Dr. Siddiqui also reiterated his commitment to establishing 20 universities across Sindh province.

Previously, at the convocation ceremony of the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad, Dr. Siddiqui emphasized the importance of innovation and leadership. Addressing the graduates, he stated, “The nation has fulfilled its obligation by providing you with quality education; it is now your duty to contribute to its progress. This country, founded on a distinct ideology, requires your efforts to build a brighter future.”

He highlighted NUTECH’s growing international recognition and its unique role as Pakistan’s first “University for Industry,” fostering strong collaboration between academia and the industrial sector.
