The World Test Championship points table is heating up with four teams battling it out to finish in the coveted top two spots to play the final of the prestigious tournament.
The latest points table does not bode well for the Indian cricket team as they slipped down to the third spot after suffering a massive defeat in the second Test match against Australia. As a result, Australia has regained their spot at the top of the table and are in prime spot to finish in the top 2 in the standings.
Australia defeated India by 10 wickets in Adelaide as the Aussie pacers proved too good for the Indian batting unit, who looked out of sorts despite an impressive win in the first match at Perth.
India will need to pull out something special to bounce back in the Test match and stake their claim to finish in the top 2 of the World Test Championship standings.
Elsewhere, England defeated New Zealand convincingly to go 2-0 up in the series and maintained their fifth spot in the table. Impressive outings for Harry Brook and Joe Root with the bat and Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse with the ball left New Zealand with a mountain to climb, which ultimately proved to be too much for the Kiwis, who stay in the 6th spot.
Meanwhile, the second Test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka is currently under progress. The Proteas are in a commanding position and win can help them leapfrog Australia to top the World Test Championship rankings.
