The federal government has announced plans to provide free electric bikes to the top 120 students of the Federal Board, marking a significant step toward promoting electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable transportation.
This decision was made during the fourth meeting on the Electric Vehicles Policy, chaired by Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain. The meeting also reviewed progress on setting up 40 EV charging stations along motorways and national highways.
During the session, the minister emphasized the importance of equipping all petrol pumps in the capital with EV charging stations. Additionally, the government plans to provide 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws to the public on easy loans, ensuring accessibility and affordability for a wider population.
Rana Tanveer Hussain stated that the entire process will be digitized to ensure transparency, aligning with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of transforming Islamabad into a model city. The Federal Minister confirmed that the Electric Vehicles Policy will be officially announced soon.
These initiatives aim to promote sustainable urban development while encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly transportation across the country.
