Following their defeat in the opening T20I against South Africa, Pakistan are expected to make a couple of changes to their playing XI for the second match of the series. The Men in Green, aiming to level the series, are set to bolster their squad by making some key additions to the team.
In the first T20I, Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain South Africa’s batting lineup in check while their middle-order faltered during the chase which could be addressed in the next game.
South Africa’s victory in the first game highlighted their aggressive intent and well-rounded performance. Pakistan, however, remain determined to bounce back by addressing their shortcomings in both bowling and middle-order consistency. The second T20I promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams vie for supremacy.
The match will take place on Friday, December 13, at 9:00 PM PST in Centurion.
Likely Pakistan XI for 2nd T20I
Babar Azam | Mohammad Rizwan (c) (wk) | Tayyab Tahir |
Irfan Khan Niazi | Mohammad Hasnain | Shaheen Afridi |
Abbas Afridi | Abrar Ahmed | Haris Rauf |
Omair Bin Yousuf | Saim Ayub |
Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan will likely have to make way to accommodate the newcomers.
While Sufiyan has shown plenty of promise in his run in the international team, his unexperince against established batting lineups could make a case against his selection while Usman’s drought with the bat is patent. In Omair, Pakistan will get a similar player profile which can prove critical for Pakistan in the middle overs.
