Saudi Arabia Braces for -3°C Temperature This Weekend

The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a warning about an impending cold wave set to hit Saudi Arabia during the first quarter of winter, with temperatures in some areas expected to drop as low as -3°C starting Sunday.

According to Hussain Al Qahtani, NCM’s spokesperson, the cold air mass will primarily affect Tabuk, Al Jawf, Northern Borders, Hail, and northern parts of the Eastern Province from Sunday to Tuesday. During this time, minimum temperatures are forecast to range between 0°C and -3°C.

The cold snap is expected to extend to Al Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province on Monday and Tuesday, where temperatures could fall to between 2°C and 5°C.

The temperature drop will also bring strong winds, causing dust storms on Sunday and Monday in the affected regions. These winds may impact parts of Mecca and Medina, including coastal areas, especially during the daytime.

The NCM has urged residents to stay informed through official updates, take necessary precautions, and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities to ensure their safety. Reduced visibility due to dust storms is expected in parts of Mecca and Medina, prompting the NCM to call on citizens and residents to remain vigilant and prepare for the challenging weather conditions.
