Punjab Announces Winter Vacation for Schools

The Punjab government has announced the official winter break schedule for schools. The break will start on December 20, 2024, and run until January 10, 2025, giving students and staff a 20-day holiday.

Secretary Khalid Nazir Wattoo emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced academic calendar, noting that the same dates will apply to both public and private schools in Punjab.

Parents are encouraged to use the break not only for relaxation but also for productive activities. It’s an opportunity to spend quality time with children while promoting healthy habits during the cold weather.

Parents are advised to limit screen time and instead encourage activities that foster learning, such as reading and skill development. Schools will reopen on January 11, 2025, marking the resumption of regular classes.

Teachers are expected to focus on revisiting the curriculum, preparing students for upcoming exams, and helping them stay on track with assignments. This winter break provides a much-needed chance for students, parents, and educators to rest and recharge before facing the academic demands of the new year.

  • How parents can spend time with kids in summer vacations. Please tell? Are offices closed tooo…. What a ridiculous

  • No need of such a long break as students have already availed unwanted breaks due to various reasons. Give some time for studies also. Make your children strong in spite of burger babies.

    • Actually you should try go to school in such extreme winters and winter vacations are necessary and common in every country and from past years

    • Breaks are of great importance. In developed countries , they promote co- curriculum more than education. So , as we aren’t now much able to perform the curriculum activities on regular basis but at least can give relief to students for refreshments and physical activities and mental training.

    • No one has asked for your kind advice as we want some inner peace. Teri maa ki chute. BSDK. teri maa mein mera phuda

  • I agree with sayed hashim.no need of such a long vacations.the weather is pleasent no any fog.these are good days for studies.i request to punjab gov. Please don’t give to much vacatooms.

  • The state of education in the country cannot afford such long breaks. We already have breaks n. The name of terrorism in the past and corona and smog recently. The level of teaching and learning is already at the lowest. But again who cares our masters can’t afford enlightened masses.

  • What about universities winter vacations. Are universities are forced for vacation in Punjab

  • I agree with tayyaba. Students condition is very pathetic after the vacation. It’s better to do this activity only those areas where harsh weather conditions found. Try to avoid it.
