Schools and colleges across Islamabad will remain closed for winter vacations from December 28, 2024, to January 12, 2025, according to the academic calendar for 2024-25.
The announcement applies to all educational institutions operating under the FDE, including schools and colleges in Islamabad. The two-week break will allow students and teachers to pause academic activities during the coldest part of the season.
Winter vacations provide students an opportunity to relax and recharge before resuming their studies. Schools and colleges will reopen on January 13, 2025, following the completion of the winter break.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially announced the winter vacation schedule for public and private educational institutions across the province for the 2024-25 academic year.
According to a notification issued on December 16, 2024, by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, winter vacations are as follows:
- Plain Areas: December 22–31, 2024 (10 days).
- Hilly/Snowy Areas: December 22, 2024 – February 28, 2025 (2 months).
