Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has revealed plans for an exhibition boxing match against American social media influencer-turned-boxer Logan Paul. Taking to social media platform X, McGregor stated that discussions are underway with the family of billionaire industrialist Mukeh Ambani to stage the fight in India.
“I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in India. I have agreed,” McGregor wrote in a Tweet.
Addressing swirling rumors, Conor McGregor dismissed the idea of a potential bout with UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, emphasizing his focus on the boxing exhibition with Logan Paul before returning to the Octagon. Topuria also denied the speculation, posting on social media writing “The rumors of a bout with mchicken are false”.
Once the biggest name in the UFC, McGregor has struggled to return to form after suffering a leg injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The 36-year-old also withdrew from a scheduled UFC 303 match against Michael Chandler in June, later attributing the decision to a broken toe.
Logan Paul, known for his ventures from YouTube to boxing, previously fought retired five-division boxing champion Floyd Mayweather in an eight-round exhibition match in 2021. While Paul held his own, the bout was more spectacle than sport. Logan Paul’s brother, Jake Paul, also continues to make waves in the boxing world. Most recently, Jake “defeated” 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a widely watched bout on Netflix, which reached 60 million households worldwide.
If finalized, the Conor McGregor and Logan Paul fight will mark a major sporting event in India, blending McGregor’s legacy with Paul’s entertainment-driven boxing style. For McGregor, it offers a chance to stay in the spotlight, while Paul continues to build his reputation in the world of combat sports. Fans can expect further announcements in the coming weeks.
