Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz issued a one-week deadline on Wednesday to eliminate encroachments across the province, emphasizing that any recurrence would reflect administrative failure.
During a special meeting to review the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the Sargodha Division, CM Maryam presided over discussions on cleanliness, health, education, price control, and monitoring of outsourced schools. Deputy commissioners from Sargodha, Khushab, Bhakkar, and Mianwali presented detailed briefings.
The meeting also examined reports on violations of the Marriage Act, encroachments, cleanliness, park conditions, and the beautification of intersections and urban areas. Additional KPIs, such as the condition of manhole covers, stray dog control, sewage systems, transport fitness certifications, and urban forest development, were also reviewed.
The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over complaints about stagnant water on roads causing inconvenience to citizens and worshippers. She instructed authorities to ensure that dilapidated roads are repaired promptly and potholes patched without delay.
Maryam Nawaz directed the relocation of informal settlements for underprivileged communities to designated alternative locations and reiterated her commitment to preventing the land mafia from operating freely in Punjab.
She ordered strict regulation of single-line cart markets, mandating that carts should only operate in approved locations and designs.
Additionally, the meeting decided to assign the monitoring of hospital medical superintendents (MS) to the respective deputy commissioners.
CM Maryam announced plans for a comprehensive sewage and sanitation strategy for cities across Punjab, ensuring improved urban management and services.
