Four firms have successfully completed a feasibility study for a proposed 10-kilometer tunnel in the Kalar Kahar Salt Range along the M-2 Motorway, which links Lahore and Islamabad.
The initiative aims to address the growing number of accidents on this stretch, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The tunnel’s construction is expected to significantly enhance safety and reduce travel time between the two cities by approximately 25 to 35 minutes.
The General Manager of the National Highway Authority (NHA) confirmed that four companies carried out the study and stated that efforts are underway to appoint a consultant for the project.
It is worth noting that the proposal for the tunnel was initially put forward during a meeting of the steering committee.
