Civil servants have been encouraged to embrace advancements in artificial intelligence by continually upgrading their skills. The 36th Senior Management Course (SMC) at Karachi’s National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) highlighted this crucial recommendation during its closing ceremony.
The program, designed to prepare government officers for higher roles, saw participation from 39 officers representing federal, provincial, and autonomous organizations. The Bank of Punjab President, Zafar Masud, served as the chief guest and highlighted the crucial role senior officials play in improving public service delivery.
He called for a comprehensive reform of Pakistan’s civil service, recommending training methods and curricula that align with international best practices. Masud stressed the importance of leveraging digital technologies to improve governance and decision-making processes.
He urged civil servants to study governance models from countries like China, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Malaysia to improve service delivery. Masud also announced a contribution from the Bank of Punjab to modernize NIPA’s library and pledged support for other facilities, including an on-site ATM.
NIPA Director General Dr. Syed Saif ur Rehman emphasized the importance of adapting to a technology-driven world and reminded participants of their duty as public servants. Certificates were distributed, and retiring staff members were recognized for their years of dedication.
