The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended two human smugglers during a raid on a fake visa factory in Gujranwala, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The FIA Composite Circle Gujranwala conducted the raid in Shadman Colony, arresting two suspects identified as Ziaur Rehman and Ijaz Ahmed. The suspects were involved in providing fake visas to citizens through agents operating across various parts of Pakistan.
The accused were found manufacturing and distributing counterfeit passports, visa stickers, and other travel documents, defrauding citizens by charging exorbitant amounts. They were part of an international network engaged in human trafficking.
During the operation, authorities recovered 20 Pakistani passports, 31 foreign passports, and a significant number of fake visa stickers. Equipment used to produce these counterfeit documents was also seized.
The confiscated items included 96 fake visa stickers for Europe, 18 for China, 41 for the UK, and 12 for the US. Fake visa stickers for countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Turkey, Serbia, Greece, Sweden, Malta, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, and the UAE were also recovered.
Additional items seized included 95 counterfeit stamps, bank deposit slips, 13 fake residence cards, immigration stamps, lamination sheets, and other travel-related documents. Fake Chamber of Commerce cards, student cards, mobile phones, lamination machines, and typing equipment were also retrieved.
The arrested individuals, along with their network of agents, were deceiving citizens nationwide by issuing fake visa stickers and sending them abroad on fraudulent visit or Umrah visas. These stickers were used to facilitate illegal travel to Europe via Dubai, Azerbaijan, and other countries.
Following the arrests, an investigation has been launched, and efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the network.
Director FIA Gujranwala Zone Abdul Qadir Qamar stated that the crackdown on human trafficking networks is ongoing. Intelligence-based teams have been deployed to target organized gangs, and all available resources are being utilized to bring the perpetrators to justice, he added.
