OnePlus 13R to Feature Dedicated Telephoto Camera, Setting It Apart from Ace 5

OnePlus 13R is set to make its global debut on January 7 alongside the OnePlus 13. Initially, many believed it would be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive Ace 5. However, new information has revealed a small difference that sets the 13R apart from its Chinese sibling. Unlike the Ace 5, the OnePlus 13R will feature a dedicated telephoto camera.

Enhanced Camera System

OnePlus 13R features a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, powered by Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5 sensor. This upgrade places the 13R ahead of the Ace 5 which has a 2 MP macro sensor. Furthermore, the 13R retains the 50 MP main camera, equipped with Sony’s LYT-700 sensor, and an 8 MP ultrawide lens, ensuring a versatile camera setup. In addition, a 16 MP front camera will take care of selfies, offering a complete photography package. This upgrade makes the OnePlus 13R a more appealing option for users who prioritize advanced camera features.

Performance and Storage Options

Moving on to performance, the OnePlus 13R offers two configurations: one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and another with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both variants will use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage technology, ensuring fast speeds and efficient multitasking.

Battery Trade-Off

Despite its camera improvements, the 13R will have a slightly smaller battery than the Ace 5. This reduction is likely due to the inclusion of the telephoto module. Nevertheless, the improved camera system and performance specifications are likely to outweigh this minor drawback for most users.

OnePlus 13R is a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market. Thanks to its upgraded telephoto camera, powerful hardware, and balanced features, the device offers great value for international users. As the January 7 launch approaches, the OnePlus 13R is shaping up to deliver an enhanced experience tailored to the global market.
