Chicken Prices in Punjab and KPK Reach Record High

Chicken prices have surged sharply across Punjab, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, according to a private news channel.

The cost of broiler chicken has skyrocketed to Rs. 780 per kilogram, a significant increase from Rs. 450 per kilogram. Authorities appear unable to rein in the soaring prices, leaving consumers burdened by the sharp rise.

Reports indicate that a 40 kg supply of broiler chicken, previously priced at Rs. 13,000, has now surged to Rs. 17,000, coinciding with a drop in temperatures.

In Mansehra and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, poultry prices have also hit record highs. On Wednesday, live broiler chicken was sold at Rs. 435 per kilogram, a rate set by the Mansehra Poultry Shops Association.

Industry sources revealed that this price surge marks a significant jump in recent months. Live chicken, which had been priced at around Rs. 300 per kilogram over the past few months, climbed to Rs. 400 in recent weeks and has now reached Rs. 435 in Mansehra and surrounding areas.
