The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said Thursday evening that a fault has been reported in the submarine cable AAE-1 near Qatar that may impact internet and broadband user experience across Pakistan.
“This is to inform the general public that a fault has been reported in the submarine cable AAE-1 near Qatar (one of the seven international undersea cables connecting Pakistan for international internet traffic). This may impact internet and broadband user experience across Pakistan,” the telecom regulator said in a statement.
PTA highlighted that the concerned teams are working to fix the fault.
The authority is monitoring the situation and will keep updating telecom users accordingly, the statement added.
It must be noted that internet slowdowns and undersea cable faults have become a recurring phenomenon in Pakistan with incidents reported almost every few weeks.
