Tecno has introduced its Starry Optical Fiber technology, an innovative design that combines optical fibers and mini-LED lights to create a shimmering effect on the back panel of a modified Phantom V Flip 2. According to GSMArena, this concept aims to deliver a visually striking experience while maintaining the phone’s functionality.
Tecno crafted the Starry Optical Fiber design using a detailed process involving 30 manufacturing steps. The design integrates 150 ultra-thin optical fibers and 108 mini-LED lights, which engineers carefully threaded together with UV adhesive to create a fabric-like structure. This meticulous process gives the phone a one-of-a-kind, shimmering aesthetic.

To enhance the experience further, Tecno has included four customizable lighting modes: Tidal Waves, Rosy Sunset, Weekend Dusk, and Aurora. These modes allow users to personalize the lighting effect to match their style or mood. Importantly, Tecno assures that the lighting integration does not impact battery life. Additionally, the design ensures optimal heat dissipation, addressing concerns about thermal performance.
Looking ahead, Tecno plans to showcase this new technology at MWC 2025 in March. The event will allow attendees to see and experience the Starry Optical Fiber technology firsthand. By blending cutting-edge design with advanced engineering, Tecno demonstrates its commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone aesthetics.
