KP is Digitizing its Driving License System Using New App

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Transport Department has announced the digitization of its driving license issuance system, expected to streamline the process and eliminate inefficiencies. A mobile application named “Dastak” will soon allow individuals to apply for driving licenses online, making the procedure more accessible and transparent. This system is designed to remove intermediaries, address fake licenses and fraudulent medical certifications, and offer special concessions to overseas Pakistanis.

This significant development is part of a broader initiative to modernize the KP Transport Department through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the KP Information Technology Board (KPITB). The signing ceremony took place in Hayatabad and was attended by Special Assistant to the KP Chief Minister on Transport, Haji Rangeez Ahmed, Special Assistant on Science, Technology, and IT, Shafqat Ayaz, the secretary of transport, the managing director of KPITB, and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Haji Rangeez Ahmed emphasized that this digitization effort would transform the department and contribute significantly to the province’s revenue generation. During a briefing held before the signing ceremony, the managing director of KPITB stated that the complete digitization of the transport department would be achieved within one year and six months, while the driving license system would be operational in just four months.
