A video by American vlogger Christopher Lewis, better known as Chris Lewis, detailing his stay at a famous 5-star hotel in Karachi, has gained significant attention on social media.
Known for his engaging travel vlogs, often delivered in the local language, Lewis shared his candid impressions during his fourth visit to Pakistan.
In the video, Lewis begins by describing the lengthy check-in process, influenced by security protocols, and his booking of a $150 (approximately Rs. 41,800) room.
While the carpet quality impressed him, the overall cleanliness of the room was disappointing. He pointed out greasy furniture, an uncomfortable chair, and stains on the menu and table.
The bathroom, in particular, was troubling. Mold covered the sink’s underside, and the tap’s poor positioning caused water to splash inconveniently. The soap holder was dirty, and stray hairs in the shower further added to the substandard conditions.
Lewis also recalled a similarly disappointing experience at Serena Hotel Islamabad last year, where he criticized the room service and food quality relative to its $300 price tag.
Despite the issues, Lewis appreciated Karachi’s vibrant culture. He visited Clifton Beach, where he interacted with locals, observed camel and buggy rides, and sampled local hospitality.
However, sanitation problems at the beach mirrored the hotel’s lack of maintenance, highlighting broader challenges in balancing luxury and cleanliness in Karachi’s tourism scene.

He recently returned and stayed at the Awari Towers hotel. He loved the hotel, the room, cleanliness, the bed, the luxury chair. Also the courteous welcome he got from the management, including the hotel owner! Who happenned to be there!
In the video he clearly mentioned all this.
he is making us proud of nothing internationally.
Is this topic even worthy of covering as a post? What value you’re giving away through your content? ProPakistani has gone to new lows! This same vlogger appreciated Avari Towers in Karachi and has been constantly bashing Serena hotel Islamabad for their poor standards. But all you guys are lately promoting just is anti-Pakistan and anti-Karachi narrative. Rename your brand to ProPTI instead of ProPakistani. I’m from Lahore btw working in Karachi just in case you think this is a Karachiite.
