In a heartwarming gesture, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori honored Pakistan’s national blind cricket team with a cash prize of PKR 500,000 in recognition of their landmark triumph in the Blind T20 World Cup.
The ceremony, held at the Governor House in Karachi on Friday, celebrated the players’ resilience and dedication to bringing glory to the nation.
A Moment of National Pride
Governor Tessori praised the team’s historic achievement, calling them “national heroes” for their undefeated run in the tournament. He lauded the blind cricketers for their unwavering determination, describing their morale as “high as mountains.”
“All the players of the undefeated team in the Blind T20 World Cup are our pride,” Tessori said. “Their victory is a gift to the nation, and we are immensely proud of them.”
Additional Rewards on the Horizon
In a further show of appreciation, Governor Tessori pledged to approach the Sindh Government to secure an additional PKR 500,000 for each player of the winning team. This promise underscores the recognition of their achievement as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s cricketing history.
A Historic Triumph
Last month, the Pakistan Blind cricket team clinched their first-ever Blind T20 World Cup title, defeating Bangladesh with a commanding 10-wicket victory in the final.
This remarkable feat makes Pakistan only the second team to win the prestigious title, breaking India’s dominance, who had previously claimed the trophy three times consecutively.
The Blind T20 World Cup victory has ignited hope for the future of blind cricket in Pakistan. With growing support from both government officials and cricketing authorities, the team’s success serves as an inspiration for differently-abled athletes across the country.
