South Africa has announced its 15-member squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy becoming the latest team to unveil the squad. South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad marks the return of fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi after the two recovered from injuries.
Nortje missed the entire home international season due to a broken toe, while Ngidi was sidelined with a groin injury.
The team, led by Temba Bavuma, features 10 players from the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Wiaan Mulder, Tony de Zorzi, and Ryan Rickelton will all make their debut in a senior ICC event.
South Africa, placed in Group B, will kick off their campaign against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21. They face Australia in Rawalpindi on February 25 before wrapping up the group stage with a high-stakes clash against England on March 1. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The 2025 Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19, will be held in Pakistan and the UAE, marking the tournament’s return after an eight-year hiatus. Pakistan, the defending champions, will look to retain their title.
