Punjab Changes Criteria for Free Laptop Scheme

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced great news for students achieving over 65% marks, announcing a pledge to provide them with laptops.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during the Honhaar Scholarship distribution ceremony at Government College Women’s University, Sialkot.

CM Maryam Nawaz revealed that the first shipment of laptops has already arrived, emphasizing that she has personally chosen the best quality laptops for the deserving students. “All students scoring above 65% will receive laptops. I will personally hand them over to you very soon,” she stated.

She further shared plans to enhance the Honhaar Scholarship program. Currently, 30,000 scholarships are distributed annually, but this number will be increased by 20,000, reaching 50,000 in the next year’s budget. The program will also be expanded to include second and third-year students.

Additionally, the chief minister announced another major initiative: 100,000 e-bikes will be distributed free of cost to students across Punjab.

While addressing the students, Maryam Nawaz urged them to stay focused and not be misled by detractors. “Pakistan is our red line, and we must remain loyal to our homeland,” she said.

In a pointed remark toward her political opponents, she criticized their allegations, stating, “They called others thieves, but a case involving 190 million pounds is filed against them. The youth must pledge to stand firm and never act against the country.”

Earlier, during the Honhaar Scholarship launch at Islamia University Bahawalpur, CM Maryam Nawaz reiterated the importance of education and unity, emphasizing that hatred only destroys society. “We must close the doors of hatred and build an inclusive, educated community,” she said.

She also confirmed that the first batch of laptops under the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme has arrived and will be distributed soon.
