As the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, Pakistan’s selection committee has reportedly finalized the squad for the much-anticipated tournament. However, the official announcement is being delayed pending the medical clearance of young batter Saim Ayub, whose fitness status is still under review.
According to sources, the proposed squad includes a mix of experienced players and promising young talent, with key names like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah leading the lineup. The selection committee has already completed its deliberations, but the final approval will come after consultations with medical professionals and a review of Saim Ayub’s full medical reports.
Once the medical reviews are completed, the finalized squad will be submitted to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for approval. Pakistan is the only team yet to announce its squad, with the other seven participating nations having already revealed their lineups. As per ICC regulations, all teams must finalize their squads by February 11, 2025.
The Champions Trophy, set to be hosted by Pakistan with some matches in the UAE, will feature the world’s top eight cricketing nations battling it out for glory. With Pakistan being the host nation, expectations are high for the team to deliver a strong performance on home soil.
