Here Are the Inauguration Dates for Champions Trophy Stadiums

With Pakistan set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lined up a series of grand opening ceremonies to unveil its newly renovated stadiums ahead of the marquee tournament. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given final approval for these events, ensuring that Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure is showcased on a global stage.

In preparation for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan’s three major stadiums have undergone extensive renovations. According to Faizan Lakhani, the PCB has scheduled special opening ceremonies at each venue to celebrate these upgrades before the tournament officially begins.

February 7 – Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

• The historic Gaddafi Stadium will be the first to be unveiled, with a high-profile ceremony expected to feature Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as the chief guest.
• The iconic venue has received modernized facilities, including upgraded seating, floodlights, and enhanced security measures.
• The stadium will then host the first match of the tri-series between Pakistan and New Zealand.

February 11 – National Stadium, Karachi

• Karachi’s National Stadium, another key venue for the Champions Trophy, will host its opening event with former President Asif Ali Zardari in attendance.
• The stadium’s renovations include:
  • A revamped outfield
  • Improved spectator amenities
  • An upgraded media center to meet international standards

February 16 – Lahore (Official Tournament Opening)

• The official opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, welcoming dignitaries from the ICC, PCB, and cricketing nations worldwide.
• This event will mark Pakistan’s full-fledged return as a host of major ICC tournaments, nearly three decades after it last co-hosted the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
