Former Pakistan Captain Returns at the World Championship of Legends

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is set to make a highly anticipated return to cricket, joining Pakistan Champions for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).

The seasoned wicketkeeper-batter, known for his tactical acumen and leadership, confirmed his participation through a social media post, which was also shared by the official Pakistan Champions handle.

The franchise celebrated the signing with a promotional video, captioned:

CAPTAIN. LEADER. LEGEND! Sarfaraz Ahmed is bringing his winning mentality to Pakistan Champions for WCL Season 2.

The Champions Trophy-winning captain has been absent from Pakistan’s international setup since 2023, and his exclusion from the upcoming PSL 10 roster suggests that his time in the local circuit may be coming to an end. The WCL provides an ideal platform for Sarfaraz Ahmed to showcase his skills once again. The competition offers fans a nostalgic yet competitive cricketing spectacle, as former greats relive their best moments on the field.

The inaugural edition of the WCL delivered an electrifying final, where India defeated Pakistan. Now, with Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad, Pakistan Champions will be determined to reclaim their glory in the upcoming season.

The second edition of the WCL is set to commence on July 18, featuring cricketing icons from six nations:

  • Pakistan
  • India
  • England
  • Australia
  • South Africa
  • West Indies

The tournament opener will see Pakistan Champions take on England Champions at Edgbaston. However, all eyes will be on the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash, scheduled for July 20, also at Edgbaston. With knockout matches on July 31 and the grand final on August 2, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership could be the X-factor Pakistan Champions need to claim the title this time around.
