ASP Hina Munawar, an officer from the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has been appointed as the Operations Manager for the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming Tri-Nation Series and the Champions Trophy 2025.
Her rapid rise within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has drawn attention, particularly given her previous managerial roles in the sport.
Munawar, who cleared the prestigious Central Superior Services (CSS) exam before joining law enforcement, has had an illustrious career.
She served in Swat and made history as the first female district officer in the Frontier Constabulary.
Her expertise in security and administration was initially recognized by the PCB when she was assigned as the chief security officer, replacing the strength and fitness trainer.
This unconventional decision raised eyebrows at the time, but it appears to have set a precedent.
More recently, Munawar was named team manager for the Pakistan Women’s team ahead of the Asia Cup. Now, her appointment as the Pakistan men’s team’s Operations Manager follows a similar pattern—again replacing a fitness and strength coach.
Some view her appointment as a strategic move by the PCB, leveraging her organizational and security expertise to streamline team operations.
Others, however, question whether these changes indicate a broader shift in how the PCB manages team affairs, possibly prioritizing administrative control over traditional coaching structures.
With the Tri-Nation Series and Champions Trophy on the horizon, Munawar’s role will be under the radar.
