In a disturbing incident in Khudian Khas, Kasur, police filed a first information report (FIR) against a dead person for electricity theft.
According to a private news channel, a police team raided the home of the deceased, violating the ‘iddat’ period observed by his widow.
During the raid, officers reportedly used abusive language towards the grieving widow. Sub-Inspector Asif Jutt reportedly confiscated a mobile phone and Rs. 16,500 from a student who was recording the incident, claiming the student owed them money.
The student later confirmed the money was for his school fees. The police also allegedly used offensive language towards residents.
Several witnesses accused Sub-Inspector Jutt of being intoxicated and verbally insulting the community. The children of the deceased man stated that the electricity bill had already been settled, yet the police still conducted the raid, using foul language despite the family’s efforts to resolve the matter peacefully.
