The renovation work at Karachi’s National Stadium is in its final stages as preparations ramp up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The historic venue is undergoing a major transformation to ensure that it meets international standards before hosting crucial matches in the tournament.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that key upgrades have been completed, including the installation of LED floodlights, digital screens, and new spectator seating in all stands. The far-end building has also been completed, while the two new ground-floor stands are now receiving their final touches.
As an additional enhancement, a giant 80×30-foot screen is being installed in front of the Wasim Akram Enclosure, while a 30×20-foot screen has already been placed in front of the Naseem-ul-Ghani Enclosure. Additionally, testing of all six LED light poles has begun, with two more LED lights expected to be installed in the coming days to facilitate practice sessions before the tournament.
The PCB will hold a media briefing today to provide an official update on the progress and readiness of National Stadium Karachi for the Champions Trophy.
The much-anticipated opening ceremony for the renovated National Stadium is scheduled for February 11, after which the stadium will be officially handed over to the ICC. The venue will then host the third match of the Tri-Nation ODI Series between Pakistan and South Africa on February 12, with the final of the series taking place on February 14.
The first match of the ICC Champions Trophy will also take place in Karachi at the National Stadium, featuring Pakistan locking horns with New Zealand on February 19. Other key fixtures at the venue include Afghanistan vs. South Africa on February 21 and England vs. South Africa on March 1.
