UAE Introduces 10-Year Blue Visa for Environmental Leaders

UAE has rolled out the first phase of its Blue Visa, a 10-year residency program recognizing individuals committed to environmental sustainability. The announcement was made during the World Governments Summit 2025.

In this initial phase, 20 pioneers in sustainability and environmental innovation will be granted the Blue Visa, as confirmed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

This long-term residency is awarded to those actively contributing to environmental protection within and beyond the UAE.

The visa is open to individuals engaged in environmental efforts, including leaders of international organizations, corporate figures, NGO representatives, recipients of global environmental awards, and distinguished researchers or activists. The program builds upon the previously launched Golden and Green Visa schemes.

Application Process

The first phase features an online approval system, where government agencies in sustainability sectors can submit applications per ICP guidelines. Eligible individuals can apply directly through the ICP’s digital platforms or be nominated by relevant authorities.

The ICP will offer round-the-clock access to the Blue Visa service via its website and mobile app, ensuring a seamless application process for those who meet the eligibility criteria.
