Pakistan Brings in World Renowned Tennis Coach to Elevate National Players

Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has appointed renowned American coach Robert Davis to train national players. The announcement was made by PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi during a press conference alongside the esteemed coach. Hailing Davis as one of the world’s top-tier coaches, Aisam emphasized the significance of securing a foreign coach of such high caliber for the first time in Pakistan’s history.

“This is a turning point for our tennis program,” Aisam stated. “Bringing in a coach of Robert’s experience underscores our commitment to improving our players and providing them with access to world-class training.”

Robert Davis has a proven track record, having trained top-ranked players in various countries, including China, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam. While introducing the new coach, the Pakistan Tennis Federation’s President also revealed that the governing body has been sending players for training in Kazakhstan, a move aimed at further enhancing their skills.

Davis has already contributed to Pakistan’s Davis Cup campaign in Myanmar, assisting the team and conducting a 10-day training session for local coaches. More recently, he led a week-long training camp in Islamabad for both players and coaches.

Sharing his initial impressions, Davis praised the enthusiasm and dedication of Pakistan’s players, coaches, and management. “I can see immense passion for tennis here,” he remarked. “The junior players have great potential, and the senior players are already performing well. With more exposure to international competition, they can achieve remarkable success.”

Robert Davis has a busy year ahead as Pakistan’s tennis teams prepare for a packed 2025 season, which Aisam has dubbed a “golden year” for the sport in the country. The national team will compete in the Asian Qualifying Round in Malaysia, while the junior squad will participate in the South Asian Qualifiers. The Under-14 team is also set to compete in an international tournament, and Pakistan will aim for medals in both the Islamic Games and the South Asian Games.

Meanwhile, preparations for Pakistan’s September Davis Cup tie have already begun, as the team looks to build on their recent performance against Kazakhstan. With international expertise, infrastructure improvements, and a clear roadmap, Pakistan is poised to enter a new chapter in tennis development.
