Pakistan cricket’s seasoned international Hasan Ali has raised concerns over the unequal treatment of players by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) within the national team. Hasan voiced his frustrations during a podcast, citing Saim Ayub’s injury treatment as a prime example to justify his stance.
In a candid interview with CrickWick, Hasan Ali expressed his displeasure with the preferential treatment given to certain players, including Saim Ayub, and questioned why the same level of attention was not extended to all players equally.
“Saim Ayub is part of the national team. Was I not also a player for the team in 2020? What about other players? Do they represent India? So why is Saim receiving VVIP treatment, and if someone else gets injured, will you extend the same courtesy?” Hasan Ali bluntly asked the PCB.
Reports of preferential treatment within Pakistan’s cricket team are not new. Saim Ayub, who has emerged as a promising young talent, has garnered attention for his rapid rise in the national ranks and is widely seen as the future of Pakistan cricket. PCB’s efforts to protect and nurture such a valuable asset are not surprising. However, debates persist over whether such treatment is justified based on potential or if it risks creating resentment among other players competing for spots in the team.
Hasan Ali’s criticism of the PCB stems from his own struggles with injuries, as well as the experiences of other players. Once a rising star in the national side, Hasan suffered numerous injuries to his back, ribs, and elbow, requiring extensive time away from the sport.
The PCB has yet to respond to Hasan Ali’s complaints.
These setbacks likely contributed to his exclusion from the international squad and the PCB’s central contract list. He is not alone in his grievances. Ihsanullah, another talented player, reportedly suffered from PCB’s neglect, which derailed his international career. Pakistan cricket’s history is filled with examples of promising talents who failed to reach their potential due to inadequate support during critical moments.
