Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Launches This Year With Impressive Range and Power

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in mid-2025. This new model follows the success of the SU7 and aims to compete in the growing EV market, particularly against Tesla’s Model Y.

Regulatory filings have revealed important details about its performance, battery options, and dimensions, generating significant interest among EV enthusiasts.

The YU7 will be available in a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) model and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) model. The RWD variant features a 315 HP motor, while the AWD model combines a 295 HP front motor with a 386 HP rear motor, delivering a total of 681 HP. The top speed for the AWD version is 253 km/h, whereas the RWD model reaches 240 km/h.

Battery capacity differs between the two models. The AWD version is powered by a 101.7 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated range of 670 km, 750 km, or 760 km, depending on the configuration. The RWD model uses a 96.3 kWh battery pack, delivering ranges of 725 km, 810 km, or 820 km. It is important to note that CLTC range figures are optimistic, and the real-world range will be lower.

The dimensions of the Xiaomi YU7 position it as a mid-to-large SUV. It measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. This places it between Tesla’s Model X and Model Y in terms of size, offering a spacious interior and cargo capacity. The SUV’s design is expected to be modern and sleek, featuring Xiaomi’s signature approach to blending technology with functionality.

Xiaomi has incorporated advanced technology into the YU7, including a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor to enhance safety and autonomous driving capabilities. The interior is expected to feature a high-tech cockpit with an ultra-wide infotainment display, ensuring a premium experience for drivers and passengers.

While official pricing has not been confirmed, industry estimates suggest the YU7 could start at approximately 250,000 Yuan (around $34,700 or Rs. 96 lac).
