Latest Champions Trophy Points Table After India Cruise Past Bangladesh

India kicked off their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign in a professional fashion, securing a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh in their opening Group A encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With this win, Rohit Sharma’s men have surged to the second spot on the points table, while Bangladesh find themselves third after avoiding a crushing defeat.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh’s top order was wrecked by India, with Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana making full use of the new ball. Axar Patel joined in soon after to leave the Tigers reeling before a record stand between Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali helped them put 228 runs on the board. The total was never going to be enough against the strength of India’s batting lineup, but Bangladesh gave it a fair go with sporadic strikes, only for the No. 1 ranked ODI batter in the world, Shubman Gill, to expertly guide India’s chase with a superb albeit slow hundred.

With New Zealand having already defeated Pakistan in the tournament opener, India’s victory now clarifies the picture of Group A even more. The Black Caps and Rohit Sharma’s men are now the favorites to progress to the semifinals, with the upcoming Pakistan vs. India match getting even more spicy. A win for India could knock out Pakistan from their own home tournament.
