Millions Washed Away as Lahore’s Bike Lane’s Paint Fails First Rain Test

The much-anticipated biker lane in Lahore has turned into a safety hazard after the first spell of rain washed away its expensive paint, exposing the poor quality of materials used in the project. What was meant to be a dedicated track for motorcyclists is now a slippery and hazardous path, raising concerns about the planning and execution of the initiative.

Motorcyclists struggled as rainwater accumulated at several points on the lane, making it nearly impossible to use. The green and orange paint, applied to distinguish the biker lanes, peeled off almost immediately upon contact with water, leading to questions about the durability of the materials. Reports indicate that allegedly the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) allocated over Rs. 110 million for the paint, yet it could not withstand a light downpour.

The failure of the lane’s paint has forced bikers back onto the main roads, increasing the risk of accidents. What was initially intended to improve road safety has now become a serious threat to riders. As calls for an investigation grow louder, residents are eager to see whether any action will be taken against those responsible for the mismanagement and financial loss.
