Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar throws shade at the current Pakistan team that crashed out of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking during a post-match analysis show, Gavaskar claimed that even India’s B team could pose a serious challenge to Pakistan, given their current form.
While discussing the depth of Indian cricket, Sunil Gavaskar remarked,
I think India’s B team certainly can give Pakistan a run for their money. India’s C team, I am not too sure. But an Indian B team will be very, very hard to beat for Pakistan in their current form.
Gavaskar’s comments come in the wake of Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy. The host nation suffered back-to-back defeats against New Zealand and India resulting in their early elimination from the tournament.
In their much-anticipated clash against India, Pakistan failed to deliver in all departments as an all-round Indian team squashed their chances of qualifications.
India, on the other hand, has showcased their dominance in the tournament, securing convincing wins against both Pakistan and Bangladesh to book their place in the semifinals. The team’s depth and bench strength have been key talking points, with several young players stepping up to deliver match-winning performances.
Gavaskar’s remarks also underline the growing concerns about Pakistan’s inconsistency and lack of depth. Despite having a talented core of players, the team has struggled to perform in high-pressure games, particularly against top-tier opponents like India.
The lack of mental toughness, poor fielding standards, and questionable team selections have been recurring issues for Pakistan, leading to criticism from former players and fans alike.
