Vikrant Gupta Reveals Real Reason Behind India’s Reluctance to Play in Pakistan

Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta has shed light on the real reasons behind the Indian cricket team’s reluctance to play in Pakistan, despite every other nation participating in the ICC Champions Trophy. Vikrant Gupta, who appeared as a guest on the Geo TV show Harna Mana Hai, addressed the question of why Indian players feel unsafe in Pakistan despite personal experiences suggesting otherwise. He emphasized that the issue is not solely related to security concerns.

Gupta, who is currently in Pakistan, shared his perspective, saying, “As an individual, I feel no threat while I am here, but the situation for the Indian cricket team is entirely different.” He elaborated that the Indian team’s reluctance to visit Pakistan is not just about security but also stems from broader political and diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Further clarifying his stance, Vikrant Gupta remarked, “There’s no specific reason related to security that stops the Indian cricket team from coming to Pakistan. The truth is that the relationship between the two countries has never truly improved, and no serious effort has been made to address these issues.”

Gupta’s comments highlighted that the absence of meaningful steps to improve bilateral relations is a key factor in the impasse. “I am not blaming anyone, but it is a fact that until practical steps are taken to improve relations between the two countries, this issue will not be resolved. Things will remain as they have been for years,” he added.

Vikrant Gupta’s candid statements about the issue point to broader political and diplomatic barriers that need to be addressed for the resumption of bilateral cricketing ties between the two countries. His words suggest that until the impasse is resolved, hybrid methods, such as the one being used in this year’s Champions Trophy, will continue to be employed in the future as well.
