Samsung has officially announced its upcoming Galaxy A launch event, set for March 2, where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. While Samsung has not explicitly confirmed which devices will be introduced, recent leaks strongly suggest that these three mid-range smartphones will be the event’s highlights.
However, Samsung’s teaser image for the event only displays two devices, leading to speculation that one of the three models might launch at a later date.
Revamped Design and Display Features
A recent mega leak has revealed almost everything about the upcoming Galaxy A models, showcasing significant design and performance upgrades. Samsung has introduced a new rear camera design, integrating the cameras into an oval-shaped island instead of using individual camera bumps. Interestingly, this new camera layout appears to be exclusive to the A series, while Samsung’s flagship devices will continue featuring separate lenses.
In terms of display, all three phones will feature a 6.7-inch screen with a 1080×2340 resolution. Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A56 and A36 with 1,200-nit peak brightness, ensuring a vibrant and clear viewing experience. The company has protected the A56 with Gorilla Glass Victus and the A36 with Gorilla Glass 7+. However, Samsung has not yet specified the type of protective glass used for the A26.
Another key difference is the fingerprint sensor placement. The A56 and A36 will include in-display fingerprint scanners, while the A26 will rely on a capacitive fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. Furthermore, while the A56 and A36 feature hole-punch selfie cameras, the A26 will continue to use a notch, making it the only model in the lineup with this design.
Performance and Processing Power
Samsung will power the Galaxy A56 with its Exynos 1580 SoC in Europe, pairing it with 8 GB of RAM across all storage variants. The A36 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, offering configurations with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. The A26 will feature Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chipset, also with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM options. These configurations indicate that Samsung is optimizing its mid-range lineup for both performance and efficiency.
Cameras
In terms of camera capabilities, all three models will feature a 50MP main rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), ensuring sharp and stable shots. However, the secondary cameras differ between the models. The A56 will come with a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP macro sensor, while the A36 and A26 will only have an 8MP ultrawide camera as its secondary. For macro photography, the A56 and A36 will include a 5MP macro lens, whereas the A26 will settle for a 2MP macro sensor.
On the front, the A56 and A36 will feature a 12MP selfie camera, while the A26 will sport a 13MP front camera. All selfie cameras will support autofocus and 4K video recording at 30fps.
Battery and Charging
Samsung is ensuring strong battery life across the lineup, with all three models equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. However, the A56 and A36 will support 45W fast charging, while the A26 will max out at 25W.
Another noticeable distinction is that Samsung is removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from the A56, while the A36 and A26 will continue to offer this feature. The A56 will also be the only model with a metal frame, adding a more premium feel to the device.
Additionally, all three models will ship with Android 15 and Samsung’s One UI 7 straight out of the box, making them among the first mid-range devices to launch with the latest software.
Expected Pricing
Samsung is expected to launch the A56, A36, and A26 in early March, with prices remaining the same as their predecessors. In Europe, the A26 should start at €299, the A36 at €379, and the A56 at €479.
