Xiaomi Launches Buds 5 Pro With Built-In WiFi, Affordable Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) With Upgrades

At its latest event, Xiaomi introduced two new additions to its lineup: the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro with Wi-Fi-enabled audio streaming and the Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) featuring powerful Intel Core Ultra processors.

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro: Advanced Audio with Wi-Fi Connectivity

The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro go beyond traditional Bluetooth streaming by incorporating Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing for higher bitrate audio playback. When paired with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, these earbuds use Wi-Fi to boost bitrate up to 4.2Mbps, enabling 96kHz/24-bit lossless audio. In contrast, Bluetooth streaming maxes out at 2.1Mbps with 48kHz/24-bit audio quality.

Equipped with dual DACs and dual amps, the Buds 5 Pro cover a frequency range of 15Hz to 50kHz, delivering detailed mid and high frequencies. The 55dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system is twice as effective as the previous Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro, and it even reduces wind noise at speeds of up to 15m/s.

The earbuds offer 8 hours of listening time over Bluetooth and 10 hours over Wi-Fi, with a total of 40 hours with the charging case. They support both wired and wireless charging and feature IP54 water and dust resistance. Xiaomi has also introduced pressure-sensitive stems for customizable controls.

The Wi-Fi-enabled Phantom Black variant is priced at CNY 1,500 ($205), while the Bluetooth-only models in Titanium Gold and White cost CNY 1,300 ($180).

Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025): A High-Performance Laptop Upgrade

Xiaomi has also refreshed its Redmi Book Pro 16, bringing Intel Core Ultra processors and a higher refresh rate display. The Ultra 7 255H processor features 16 cores (up to 5.1GHz), Intel Arc graphics, and 96 TOPS of AI performance. The Ultra 5 225H variant, with 14 cores (up to 4.9GHz), delivers a 29.5% performance boost over last year’s model.

The 16-inch display has a 165Hz refresh rate, 3072×1920 resolution, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, HDR 400 certification, and 500 nits of brightness, making it ideal for both gaming and content creation. With a 99Wh battery, the laptop boasts up to 30 hours of usage and charges via a 140W GaN adapter. The cooling system includes two fans and three heat pipes, capable of dissipating 80W of heat.

The Ultra 5 model (32GB RAM, 1TB storage) is priced at CNY 6,500 ($895), while the Ultra 7 variant with the same RAM and storage costs CNY 7,500 ($1,030). Both models are now available in China.
