Commissioner Karachi Fixes Flour and Bread Prices for Ramadan

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has announced revised rates for flour and bread across the city to keep food prices stable during Ramadan.

Per the notification, No. 2.5 flour will be available at Rs. 83 per kg for wholesalers and Rs. 87 per kg for retail buyers. Fine flour has been priced at Rs. 88 per kg in wholesale and Rs. 92 per kg in retail markets.

Meanwhile, Chakki flour will be sold at Rs. 100 per kg. Despite these official rates, market prices remain higher, with fine flour sold between Rs. 90 to Rs. 100 per kg and Chakki flour from Rs. 110 to Rs. 115 per kg.

For bread, the price of a 100-gram roti has been fixed at Rs. 10, while a 120-gram naan will cost Rs. 15. However, in various areas of Karachi, chapati is being sold at Rs. 18 to Rs. 20, and naan prices vary between Rs. 25 to Rs. 28.

To prevent overpricing, the Commissioner’s office has activated a complaint cell. Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to take strict action, including imposing fines and making arrests, against those violating the price regulations.

Authorities have assured that daily price lists for essential commodities will be issued to curb price manipulation.
