KP Makes Police Clearance Certificate Mandatory for Hiring

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police department has introduced a mandatory police clearance certificate for all job applicants, including those seeking employment in government offices, private companies, shops, and households.

This measure aims to enhance security and prevent crime. To raise awareness, KP police have launched a campaign under the slogan “Better Safe Than Sorry,” urging employers to verify an applicant’s background before hiring.

Officials warn that failing to conduct background checks could lead to security risks. District police officers have been instructed to ensure the smooth functioning of facilitation centers, where citizens can obtain clearance certificates.

These centers, established in major cities, streamline the process for the public. Local residents can acquire the certificate through online verification, while non-residents must visit facilitation centers.

The process involves submitting an application form, a copy of the national identity card, and two photographs, followed by approvals from the local police station and superintendent of police. Most applications are processed within a few hours.

Authorities have also cautioned that employing foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, without proper clearance may result in legal action against employers.
