Honey Trapping Gang With Police Officers Busted in Lahore

A honey trap scheme has been exposed in Lahore, where young men were lured through a social media app and then subjected to extortion and physical abuse. Police have arrested seven suspects, including two police officers.

After cracking down on similar cases in the Kacha region, authorities have now apprehended a gang operating in Lahore. The ringleader, Asim, reportedly used social media to post objectionable photos of women along with contact numbers to bait victims.

Once a person made contact, the women pretended to befriend them and invited them to a flat in Kot Lakhpat. During the meeting, uniformed police officers, along with their accomplices, would raid the location, assault the victim, and extort money.

The seven-member gang included two police officers and a female polio worker. Police recovered several explicit videos of victims from the suspects’ mobile phones. A case has been registered against them under charges of abduction, assault, and extortion.

Authorities revealed that the gang would threaten victims with the release of their videos on social media if they refused to pay. So far, more than 50 people have fallen prey to their scheme.

During the arrests, police seized seven mobile phones, handcuffs, a pistol, Rs. 55,000 in cash, and other incriminating evidence.
