Saim Ayub Starts His Comeback from Injury [Video]

Pakistan’s star cricketer, Saim Ayub has begun his rehabilitation journey at the English Premier League club Arsenal FC’s Sobha Realty Training Center in London. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared footage of the young left-handed batter working out at the state-of-the-art facility, signaling the start of his recovery process.

Ayub was sent to London for specialized treatment after sustaining a serious right ankle injury during the opening day of the second Test in the two-match away series against South Africa in January. The injury ruled him out of international cricket for at least six weeks, forcing him to miss the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, where Pakistan has struggled without a reliable opener.

The injury has also sidelined Ayub from Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball tour of New Zealand, which includes five T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs), scheduled from March 16 to April 5. However, the PCB remains optimistic about his recovery, with Ayub expected to regain full fitness in time for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

The 22-year-old batter’s absence was sorely felt by Pakistan, especially during the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Without Saim Ayub, nor Fakhar Zaman at the top, the host nation crashed out of the tournament without a single win. Saim is expected to make his grand comeback at PSL 10 for Peshawar Zalmi. Recently, Pakistani legend Shahid Afridi stated that he wants to see the young batter take charge of the national team as captain.
