The Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on the evening of March 30, 2025, signaling the arrival of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Based on astronomical data, the new moon will be born at 15:58 PST on March 29, increasing the likelihood of sighting it the following evening.
The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has also projected that Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be observed on March 31. However, meteorologists have cautioned that partly cloudy weather in some regions could impact visibility.
To determine the official Eid date, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on March 30, alongside zonal and district committees.
Meanwhile, the government has announced public holidays from March 31 to April 2, 2025, for Eid celebrations, as per a Cabinet Secretariat notification.
