Islamabad United’s Star Batter Partially Unavailable for PSL X

Islamabad United has officially announced that South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen will be partially unavailable for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) due to personal reasons. This news comes as the team prepares for the tournament, which is set to kick off on April 11, 2025.

Rassie van der Dussen was one of the supplementary picks in the PSL X draft, alongside Australia’s Riley Meredith.  PSL franchises have indicated that several other players will also be unavailable, prompting the need for a replacement draft scheduled for Monday evening via a virtual session. Short-term replacements are the norm in modern franchise cricket, with some players preferring a stop-gap role across various leagues.

In total, five cricketers will be partially replaced by their respective franchises. Peshawar Zalmi is set to replace Nahid Rana from the Gold category, while Karachi Kings will select a replacement for Litton Das from the Silver category. Additionally, New Zealand’s Mark Chapman and Kane Williamson, who were drafted in the Platinum and Supplementary categories respectively, will also miss a few matches for Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings.

Peshawar Zalmi will also be making a pick to replace their Diamond category player, Corbin Bosch, for the entire season, further highlighting the ongoing adjustments teams are making ahead of the tournament.

The PSL X promises to be an exciting event, taking place across four cities—Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi—running from April 11 to May 18, 2025.

As the countdown to PSL X continues, fans are eager to see how these changes will impact the teams and the overall competition. With the excitement building, all eyes will be on the reigning PSL champions, Islamabad United, and their quest for glory in the upcoming season.
