Suzuki to Launch Ethanol Cars in Pakistan, BioGas Plant Near Lahore

Pakistan is looking to advance its automotive industry by incorporating ethanol fuel, ensuring engine compatibility for local vehicles, and boosting the use of locally produced auto parts.

These plans were discussed during a meeting between Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Industries and Production, and Hiroshi Kawamura, CEO of Pak Suzuki.

Haroon Akhtar Khan underscored Pakistan’s commitment to bio-gas and electric vehicle initiatives, and noted that Pakistan and Japan can jointly explore new industrial opportunities, particularly in the realm of green energy projects.

According to a press release, Pak Suzuki’s plan to establish a biogas plant in Manga Mandi near Lahore was commended for contributing to Pakistan’s renewable energy goals. Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized Pakistan’s position as a sizable market for Pak Suzuki and advocated for continued collaboration in the auto sector.

The talks align with the government’s “Uraan” vision for eco-friendly vehicles and represent another step in strengthening industrial ties between Pakistan and Japan. Hiroshi Kawamura, while congratulating Haroon Akhtar Khan on his new role, conveyed optimism about further enhancing economic and technological cooperation between the two nations.

  • Few things wrong in this article.

    1. No price of car shown
    2. Consumer ethanol is not productive and costs more to produce.
    3. It increases smog level. Which is the LAST thing we need as our AQI isn’t good to begin with.
    4. Ethanol cars are not efficient
    5. The most concerning thing. Ethanol fire is invisible. Meaning anyone going through it cannot be saved in time.

    Too much risk.

    • Is far better for govt to increase availability of hybrids . Why are hybrids so expensive in this country?

  • failed project, it won’t work,
PakZuki should focus on mild hybrid cars currently japan is having world best mild hybrid cars, but they are not introducing this pakistan. Suzuki should consider this, else they will be wiped out from Pakistan within next 5 years

  • Another failed program like many other sheikh chilli projects of these corrupt and thief government.

  • The most concerning thing is that ethanol fire is invisible.

So in case of combustion or burning .You might not even notice someone is burning. You’d think they are dancing (this actually happened in US races)

This should never be allowed in pakistan..
