Sahibzada Farhan, one of Pakistan’s most in-form domestic players, has been picked by Islamabad United as a supplementary player for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL 10).
The 27-year-old batter has been making headlines with his stellar performances in the National T20 Cup. In the first semifinal at Iqbal Stadium, Farhan smashed a record-breaking 148 off just 72 balls, including 10 fours and 12 sixes, leading Peshawar to a 56-run victory over Abbottabad. His explosive innings powered Peshawar into the final and cemented his status as one of the most consistent performers in domestic cricket.
Farhan’s incredible form has seen him amass 588 runs in just six innings during the tournament, making him the highest run-scorer in a single edition of the National T20 Cup. He broke his own record of 492 runs in 12 innings from last season and equaled Fakhar Zaman’s Pakistan record of 588 runs in a single T20 tournament, set during PSL 2022.
Despite his domestic dominance, Farhan’s absence from the national team has raised eyebrows. Former Pakistan cricket legend Rashid Latif recently criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection policies, arguing that Farhan deserves more opportunities at the international level. Latif highlighted Farhan’s consistent performances as proof of his readiness for the national setup.
Farhan’s inclusion in Islamabad United’s squad for PSL X provides him with a platform to showcase his talent on a bigger stage. With his explosive batting and record-breaking form, he could be a game-changer for the two-time PSL champions.
As PSL X approaches, all eyes will be on Sahibzada Farhan to see if he can replicate his domestic success and make a strong case for a return to the national team.
