According to Express News, prisoners serving sentences for minor offenses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s jails will now be able to celebrate Eid with their families. Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has announced a two-month reduction in sentences on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Following the CM’s orders, prison authorities have reduced sentences accordingly, leading to the release of 214 prisoners convicted of minor offenses or nearing the completion of their terms after completing necessary legal procedures.
However, this amnesty does not apply to those convicted of terrorism, murder, kidnapping, or other serious crimes. The announcement has brought joy among the released prisoners.
