Lahore Qalandars Announce Leadership Change Ahead of PSL X

Lahore Qalandars have announced a major coaching change ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, with Russell Domingo stepping in as head coach following Darren Gough’s withdrawal due to personal reasons. The franchise confirmed Gough’s unavailability in an official statement, citing “unavoidable personal commitments” that prevent him from continuing in the role.

Gough had initially been appointed as the Qalandars’ head coach for the Global Super League in Guyana last year, with the expectation that he would lead the team in PSL 10 as well after Aaqib Javed stepped down to take a role with Pakistan’s national team. Despite the side finishing fourth and exiting in the group stage, Qalandars were impressed with Gough’s tactical insight and had planned for a long-term partnership. However, his late withdrawal has left the franchise in a difficult position.

While disappointed by Gough’s decision, the Qalandars management expressed their understanding and support, stating that he remains “a valued part of the Qalandars family” and wishing him the best for the future.

In his place, Russell Domingo, the former head coach of South Africa and Bangladesh, has taken up the role as Lahore Qalandars aim to secure their third PSL title in four seasons. Excited about the challenge ahead, Domingo expressed his enthusiasm for working with the team.

“I am really excited to be part of Lahore Qalandars for the 2025 PSL season. I can’t wait to meet the players, get to know the management, and begin preparations for what promises to be an exciting campaign. We know we will have the full backing of our incredible fans, and I look forward to making them proud,” said Domingo.

Lahore Qalandars will kick off their PSL 10 campaign on April 11 in Rawalpindi, where they will face defending champions Islamabad United in what promises to be a high-intensity clash.
